Funda lives by the philosophy that eating and drinking should be fun and exciting for those who seek happiness and comfort in food and drinks to balance the craziness of everyday life.
The name Funda is made up of two words: one being an English word, fun and the other being a Korean word, da. Da in Korean means all and many. We want to create a new eating and drinking culture for all, one that’s as much fun as you can imagine having in a casual dining bar with your friends and family because when it comes to fun, the more the merrier.
We want to stimulate the senses with delicious drinks, music and Y2K vibes so our guests can appreciate and enjoy a higher level of Korean cuisine that pushes the boundaries of flavour for a dining experience like no other, visit after visit.
The past four years Exec. Chef Jung-Su worked as the Executive chef at Jungsik Seoul where he helped maintain two Michelin stars throughout his time there. This put him on the map of Modern Korean cuisine and dare we say he is one of the best chefs in Modern Korean in the world. Head Chef Chris Kim has built an impressive career fuelled by his love for culinary artistry and a deep connection to his Korean heritage. As former Senior Sous Chef at Tetsuya’s, Chris’ experience working in some of Australia’s most distinguished and hatted restaurants (Tetsuya’s, Mjolner, Sepia and Urbane) coupled with continuous self- education has enabled him to push gastronomic boundaries.
